Shivani Karan is an artist whose work explores the reimagining of memory through digital media. With a background spanning digital art, media, and virtual reality, her practice investigates the intersections of place, memory, and identity.
A former lecturer at AUT, she has dedicated her career to pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling, using emerging technologies to evoke deeply personal and collective histories.
Her award-winning project Lane 25 (Best Immersive Impact Award, Doc Edge 2024) was a standout feature of Hidden Inheritance at Fresh Gallery Ōtara (Nov 2024 – Mar 2025). She also led VR and mixed-media workshops at Fresh Gallery, supporting artists in integrating digital storytelling into their own practices.
